June 5, 2008 UPDATE!
The T-Rex 700 is now in full production. The first batch of kits shipped out of the Align Factory in Taiwan a little over a week ago and is now arriving at some hobby shops around the world.

I just returned from the San Diego fun fly where Alan, Jason, Andy and I flew our T-Rex 700’s all weekend. It was an awesome event with great weather and lots of pilots and good friends. I want to thank my buddy Ray Nemovi for his hospitality as well as the event coordinators for such a great time.

The T-Rex 700 is still scheduled to arrive at hobby shops in early June. Pre-production kits are now being shipped to Align reps around the world and production kits will follow.

I had the opportunity to fly a 3 way demo with Jason and Alan. I want to thank Bob “Finless” from helifreak.com from taking video!

Had a great time at the Huntsville fun fly. Jason, Alan and I flew our prototype 700’s there all day Friday and Saturday. Release has been confirmed for early June! I took the liberty to grab a few pictures from the Huntsville fun fly from Sgt Heli and Justin Keaton.

All testing is complete. The T-Rex 700 is now in the early stages of production. Expected release date is early June. I’m really enjoying this heli, it has the fastest cyclic of any 90 size machine I have ever flown. It is also very light with an incredible power-to-weight ratio. Alan Szabo, Jason Krause and I will be flying our 700’s in Huntsville, AL this coming weekend.

Alex, the owner of Align brought the first built T-Rex 700 to the Vegas Fun Fly and Competition last week. Jason and I got a chance to “play with it” for the first time. Minor changes are already scheduled to be made and testing will begin very shortly. The general public also got a chance to see the machine on Saturday.

Jan 30, 2008 - The T-Rex 700 nitro is coming very soon! Jason Krause has just finished the design and prototypes are being built at this time. Testing will begin in Taiwan in early April. I’m particularly very excited about this project; I haven’t flown a 90 size machine since June of last year; I’m looking forward to testing and flying this new 90 size machine as well as compete with it at XFC 2008!

Just got back home from attending the Align Cup 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada where I placed 2nd in the 500 Masters class. This was one of the best times I’ve had in a while. Vegas is of course a great destination for a heli event. Alan Szabo Sr. and Rockie deserve great compliments for putting this great event together.

I also want to thank the whole Align crew, including Alex (the boss), Andy, Kyna, Jason and Eric to mention a few for their hard work. Danny and Marcus also did a great job as freestyle flight judges.

Vic Campbell from V-Blades has completed all the initial preparations to begin producing these blades. I have been assisting with the testing as well as providing feedback with the design and parameters of the blades. These blades are very fast, more than likely faster than any other blade this size, they are also very stable.

Full production should begin very soon. Keep checking this site often for an update and available dates.

The T-Rex 500 is now in full production and on its way to dealers and hobby shops accross the world. I am enjoying this machine more than any other small helicopter that I have ever owned. See pictures here. Video available here.

I have been flying a “Scorpion” motor on my T-Rex 450 SE v2 for a while now. This motor has amazing power on 3s, more than I have ever seen before and even more than most 4s setups. The motor retails for $49.00, you can get it from readyheli.com. Video available here.

I just made it back home from Chicago where I went to compete in the “World micro heli cup” where I finished 4th. I also performed several demos for Align and Assurance R/C. This competition was full of talent with a lot of great pilots. See videos here.

I’m currently testing a new type of V-Blades, called the “TST Extreme”. These will become available to supplement the standard TST’s. The “Extreme” version of the TST blades are designed for extreme 3D as they are much quicker and aggressive than the standard TST blades.

 The standard TST blades will continue to be sold for users who want a more stable blade for smoother 3D. However, for heart pounding 3D with very fast cyclic and virtually no bog, I suggest you try a set of Extremes. These blades are schedule to hit the market around March of 2008.
