Here is a video of a flight with the T-Rex 700 during the “TORCHS Mini Blowout” a couple of weeks ago. This was a decent flight, some reversals and pretty aggressive flying in the wind. This machine was running the best it ever did and this was the day before it got stolen!

Well, after getting all my stuff stolen out of my car, I am finally getting back in the air. I want to give special thanks to Mark Graves from Graves R/C for letting me borrow a kit while I wait on Align Taiwan’s shipment.

Yes, Bobby Watts, Suzi, Austin and I were having lunch at iHop today and when we went back outside, my Toyota Yaris had its passenger side window busted and everything I own R/C related was stolen. Bobby and I were planing on going to the field afterwards to practice XFC maneuvers. The alarm obviously went off, but we didn’t hear it.

Here is a list of what was stolen:

2x T-Rex 700’s with 8717 servos all around, 8900G tail servo, Spartan DS 760 gyro and Spektrum 7100 receivers with Multigov governor. One had new V-Blades 690’s and the other had Align 690 D blades. One had an Align H motor and the other an OS HZ, one had a Hatori SB-18, the other one a Hatori SB-20.

One of the 700’s had the blue and white Align scheme that never made it into production. The other one had my “signature series” canopy.

1x T-Rex 600 NSP (blue anodized) with red/yellow canopy. 8717 servos, 8900G tail servo, Spartan DS 760 gyro and Spektrum 7100R receiver. OS Hyper 50 motor and Align pipe. This one also had the new 600mm V-Blades.

Spektrum DX7-SE transmitter in a black Pelican 1400 model case.

2 ThunderPower 2250 3s 40C batteries and 3 Thunderpower 2600 2s Prolite 2 batteries, all inside a small yellow Pelican case.

A lot of tools, all in a “Dremel” type bag.

One of these 700’s was an original prototype, you can tell by the fact that most of the head parts (head block, swashplate, etc.) don’t have the Align name printed on them. Also, the bottom plate is very wide, much wider than prototype versions.

TORCHS (The Orlando Remote Control Helicopter Society) in Orlando, Florida is putting together a gathering on Saturday, May 16th from 8:00 AM until dark. Plenty of flying, fun, food and even prizes!

The TORCHS Winter Garden field will be open to any and all pilots who wish to show up, a small $10 dollar donation will be required to fly.

All pilots wishing to attend need to arrive no later than 12pm. Spectators are welcome all day and all hours.

Align Taiwan notified me yesterday that they’re releasing a new torque tube for the T-Rex 450 Pro. The original torque tube was designed to break during tail strike as this was a good way to preserve tail gears and we all thought that people would like this feature simply because it is a lot easier and quicker to replace a torque tube drive than it is to replace gears and the price is about the same. However, after some negative feedback, Align decided to increase the strength of the torque tube to that of their original torque tube drive designs.

Yes! 40C! ThunderPower did it again! This time they’re leading the market with a 40C battery. Soon to be released, the new “ProPower” 40C battery packs are better than anything previously made by TP. These packs not only can provide all the power needed, they run cooler and should last hundreds of cycles without a problem. I have been flying the 2250 MAH 3s pack on my T-Rex 450 Pro and the 850 MAH 3s on my 250. Temps never exceed 110 degrees on the 2250 and about 105 degrees on the 850 after 4:00 min hard 3D flights. With these low temps, I’m sure these packs will last a long time.
